What is it: The Metzeler Sportec 01 is the next evolution in Metzeler’s supersport road tyre line-up, replacing the Sportec M9 RR. Designed for fast road riders, it blends strong dry grip, confident wet performance and everyday usability in a modern hypersport package. The M9RR was already one of the best Sports tyres in mixed conditions and the Sportec 01 claims to be even better.
What tyre it replaces: The Sportec 01 replaces the highly-regarded M9 RR, but the M9 will remaining in Metzeler’s line-up.
Who is it aimed at: The Sportec 01 is aimed at sporty road riders who want not only sharp handling and the confidence to push but also a tyre that will perform well in wet and mixed conditions.
Typically seen on: We expect to see the Sportec 01 fitted to a wide variety of bikes, from the obvious Superbikes, to Tall-Rounders and even naked middleweight roadsters. Anything that’s going to be used on an A-road blast.
Sportec 01 highlights: Metzeler’s revised tread technology for enhanced grip and stability. Strong wet performance and improved mileage. Precise steering and high-speed stability.
Fancy something stickier? If you like the idea of the Sportec 01 but want something with more track potential, check out the Sportec 01 RS; it’s still road legal but with a stickier compound, creating more cornering potential.
The competition: The Sportec 01 lands in the middle of a hotly contested Sports category, going up against the likes of the Bridgestone S23, Continental Sport Attack 5, Dunlop Sportsmart Mk4, the Michelin Power 6 and the Pirelli Rosso 4.

SPORTEC 01 and the sportier SPORTEC 01 RS are designed to continue this successful tradition and have been developed to raise the bar for supersport performance even further. Both are dedicated to sporty riders looking for high performance and reliability and both take advantage of the patented DYNATREADâ„¢ technology -adopted for the first time with Metzeler ROADTEC 02, which results in an adaptive tread pattern that improves grip and stability at high speed, and which has been further improved to be exploited in the supersport field.
SPORTEC 01 is the direct successor of the SPORTEC M9 RR and is a tyre for sporty road use and for motorcyclists who require control in different conditions, both dry and wet. Compared to the SPORTEC 01 RS, it offers higher mileage and better performance in wet conditions.

Unlike some other retailers, all our tyres are located in the UK. If it shows as available on our website, then it's in stock. We dispatch 95% of orders within 24 hours and because they're shipped from the UK, you won't have delays or import charges.
