Heated grips are a great way to make riding in winter that bit more comfortable. Here at Two Tyres we have a London motorcycle workshop and we’ve fitted countless pairs of heated grips over the years.
Are Oxford heated grips worth it?
We only stock Oxford because we know they work. They’re built well, the temperature difference is noticeable, they fit well and they stand the test of time.
How hot do these grips get?
The Premium models have 5 different heat settings with a maximum output of 45-degrees. The Advanced models have 9 different heat settings and the same maximum temperature.
Do heated grips flatten your battery?
Not really. They have a draw of 4A and an auto-switch-off which means if you forget to turn them off, you won’t flatten your battery.
In standby mode, there is a tiny current draw from the heated grips (around 0.01 milliamps). So for a typical motorcycle it would take over 1,000 days for the battery to be discharged. If you’re not riding your bike at least once every 1,000 days then you might well question why you need heated grips in the first place!
What’s the difference between Adventure, Sports and Touring grips?
The difference is in the length of the grips and the grip pattern. The grips themselves can be safety cut down by 10mm but we’ve not yet found that we need to.
