Continental have been making motorcycle tyres for over 100 years. The firm was founded in 1871 and started off producing tyres for bicycles. In 1904, Continental produced the world’s first tyre with a patterned tread. I bet bikers in 1904 started to enjoy riding in the rain!
In the ‘90s, the firm focused on car tyres but Conti have had a resurgence in the motorcycle world since the turn of the century. They now produce a cracking range of motorcycle tyres. They’re well-known in adventure-riding circles, thanks to their brilliant TKC 80 but they don’t just do tyres for the loose stuff. Their Conti Road Attack and Sport Attack range of tyres are a popular choice for road and trackday riders and they’ve won various magazine tyre tests both in the UK and around the world. To this day, Continental takes its R&D seriously and owns 12 test facilities around the world, including a 1.7-mile high-speed banked oval in Hanover, Germany, known as the Contidrome. All of contintental’s tyres are tested at this facility. They still manufacture tyres in Germany and they also produce electronics and suspension systems for some of the world’s most advanced vehicles. Truly a cutting edge company, you’re in safe hands with Conti!
