You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. The Streetfighter 848 and the Streetfighter 1098 and 1098S all run the same sizes as their sportsbike siblings.

These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Fast Road Riding, Trackdays or Touring.

Ducati 1098 History

Introduced in 2007, the 1098 was Ducati’s latest World Superbike contender. Taking over from the much-loved, much hated Ducati 999, the 1098 is seen by many as one of the best Ducati V-twin engines ever produced. It was created to do one thing: win the World Superbike Championship, continuing Ducati’s domination of the class.

The engine produced around 150bhp at the rear wheel and 91ftlb of torque. The Ducati’s 999 Testastretta engine was redesigned from the ground up, meaning that almost every component in the 1098’s engine is different to that of the outgoing 999.

As Ducati produces Superbikes to win at the highest levels of racing, the 1098 was not long for this world. Ducati replaced it with an even more powerful 1198 in 2009.

2007: Ducati 1098 model launched.

2008: Ducati launched the 1098R as a limited-run homologation special.

2009: Ducati takes the 1098 off sale, as it gets replaced by the 1198.

Ducati 848, 1098 and 1198 Best Tyres

Fast Road

The original tyres on these bikes were more track focused. For road riding they are fine but they won’t warm up as quickly as our suggestions below, nor will they maintain their temperature on colder days or when you back off the pace. Our choices below are grippy tyres that will work well in all conditions:

Bridgestone S23

Pirelli Rosso Corsa 4

Metzeler M9RR

Trackday

These are all road-legal trackday options. They are extreme tyres and not our recommendation for road riders. If you are doing a lot of road riding but you might take on a trackday too, go for the Bridgestone RS11 over the R11.

Bridgestone R11

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC

Michelin Power Cup 2 (848 recommendation only)

You can also check out our guide to the best motorcycle trackday tyres for more in-depth options.

Ducati 848, 1098 and 1198 Tyre Pressures

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.

If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:

Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi

Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi

125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi

You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.
