Description
The Two Tyres 1-minute guide to the Diablo Supercorsa V2 SC
What is it: The replacement for the V2SC, the V3 SC is a super-sticky tyre that’s road legal and as close to a racing slick as you’re going to get for your road bike. Designed for outright grip, they’re definitely not the best choice for road riders. They have a narrow operating window and and won’t return good mileage but in the right conditions they’re incredible. Pirelli’s Supercorsa SC V3 tyres have been completely redesigned from the ground up. Pirelli’s main mission has been to improve grip and longevity when compared to the V2 which was already a stonking track tyre.
What tyre it replaces: The V3 SC replaces the V2 SC.
Who is it aimed at: Benefitting from the latest Pirelli motorsports technology. If you’re a trackday addict and your bike is your pride and joy, then the V3 SC is about the best treaded race tyre you can run. Or if you’re racing and every split-second counts, the V3 SC is the one to be on.
Typically seen on: Any trackday bike and performance road bike from the Yamaha R1M to the Ducati Panigale V4 and if you’re lucky enough to spot a Honda RCV21V-S, it’ll probably be wearing a set of these too.
V3 SC highlights: Available in two compounds. Available in a 180/60 and 200/55 which are often hard to find in this level of track-spec tyre.
V3 SC tyre sizes: Only available in 17″ rims but with sizes to fit pretty much any sportsbike from the past two decades.
Soft or Medium compound? The SC1 is the Soft compound tyre. The SC2 is a harder compound, also known as the Medium compound.
Pirelli recommend you run a softer front and harder rear compound when track temperatures are low. The thinking is that when the track temperature increases, the compound tends to lose its compactness and rigidity, sometimes causing problems in movement during leaning. In this case, it is better to use a more rigid compound (such as the SC2). On the other hand, when the track is cold, the compound tends to become more rigid and this leads to a penalty with regards grip, with possible under-steering and stability while braking. In these conditions it is better to use a soft compound such as the SC1.
The front SC2 is a stiffer construction than the SC1, the SC2 is more a more stable tyre on the brakes but lacks a bit of feel.
Supercorsa SC vs SP: The SC is the track-focused Supercorsa whereas the SP is the road-focused tyre. The SC tyres are available in multiple compounds to help riders choose the best tyre for the track temperature, surface and their preferred feel. The SC is a race tyre that’s road legal, the SP more of a Trackday tyre. The SC is made in 3 front compounds and 4 rear compounds.
A more road-focused option: If you want a sticky road tyre for fast road riding and occasional track use, go for the Diablo Rosso IV.
The competition: The Supercorsa SC range is diractly comparable to the Bridgestone R11, the Dunlop D212 Treaded GP and Metzeler Racetec RR K1+K2.
Pirelli says:
The Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC V3 is a Supersport and Superstock Race tyre offering riders:
- Increased stability and more even wear thanks to subtle changes in tread pattern.
- New 200/60 rear derived from Pirelli’s WSBK development programme.
- Also available in 180/60 and a 200/55.
- Better traction when driving out of bends, and improved cornering grip for faster lap times.
- As used in British Supersport and the British Superstock classes.
- ROAD LEGAL.
Pirelli Supercorsa SC Compound Chart:
- SC1 = Soft.
- SC2 = Medium.
What’s the difference between the Supercorsa V2 and V3?
The price is the main factor. And the sizes and different compounds available in the V3. I’m sure very very few people would be able to tell the difference if they got on the bikewith no idea which tyre was on it. The front V3 by all accounts has a better feel to it on the brakes compared to the V2, whilst the V3 rear last longer than the V2.
Press Review
“I can tell you, the SC1’s we were given to try in Sicily offered later braking and even better edge grip than the street-bound SP’s – allowing those few extra miles-per-hour through the fastest sweepers and that tad extra percentage of g-force through the slowest corners before they’d break loose and slide – especially when brand new.
Then when they do eventually slide, you can feel the extra velocity you’re carrying at any given point on the race track and can hear the extra RPM the engine is revving. The forward lunges the bike also makes on hard acceleration are further just gobbling up tenths of a second in superior lap-time over the “intended for road use” alternatives.
These are all small differences to be sure, just fractions of seconds everywhere, but if the name of the game is to gather up all the possible advantages you possibly can, then you’ll win with SC equivalents.
The cool thing about simply adding stickier rubber to an existing motorbike package you’re already familiar with – and without changing a damn thing else, is that your lap times drop – it can almost do your head in when you realize that maybe adding lighter wheels, or factory Öhlins suspension w/ stiffer triple-clamps, full titanium bolts, or $8000 Brembo WSBK mono-block brakes, will almost with mathematical certainty improve your lap-times, even when you’re the same exact rider both times. But swapping tires for superior ones is amongst the easiest mods to try first.” – Motorcycle.com

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US
I wasn't sure the size inner tubes I needed, so rang. They were extremely helpful, friendly and gave me the information I needed. Within 5 minutes I had got my answers, tubes ordered, paid and receipted - wow. I am usually cautious about using someone for first time, and not local (I live in Notts). I do recommend Two Tyres. Great job guys.
Called up and was able to get an appointment for the same day to replace both tyres on my BMW R1200 GSA. Not only was it great to get seen so quickly, compared to the 5 week wait I had been quoted by Motorrad, but Chris was able to offer some advice and guidance on which tyres best suited my needs. I cannot praise the service enough from Chris and the team and I will definitely be back for my next set of tyres!
Great service from these guys, I ordered on line and accidentally ordered two items the same, maybe clicked twice waiting for the page to change. They called me to check this wasn't a mistake (which it was) and immediately refunded me for the accidental purchase and sent out just one item. I know I'll be using them to get my tyres & tubes in future.
