Suzuki GSX-R600 Tyre Guide

Tyre sizes, the best tyre options, tyre pressures, reviews and more for the mighty Suzuki GSX-R600 series.

Suzuki GSX-R600 Tyre Size

The 599cc Suzuki GSX-R600 runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 180/55/17 rear tyre.  You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.

These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Touring, Trackdays, Fast Road Riding, Budget tyres or High Mileage.

Suzuki GSX-R600 History

The Suzuki GSX-R600 first hit our roads as the SRAD version and it was a safe bet that anyone you saw on one would ride like a total nutter, in the way that you could back in 1996.

The SRAD was one of the original pocket rockets and looking back on it now, I don’t know whether today’s modern 600 (OK so there aren’t that many left) have really improved the riding experience. Yes they have traction control, power modes and ABS but the SRAD’s simplicity is hard to beat.

The original SRAD ran from 1996 to 2000, then came the K series bikes, which ran from 2001 to 2003, they were then revised and relaunched in 2004 (the best-looking version?). In 2006 to 2007 Suzuki relaunched the GSX-R600 with the K6 and K7 versions and it’s that look that barely changed. The 2008 to 2010 models kept those flowing lines and then the last GSX-R600 was launched in 2011.  So in 20 years, Suzuki’s GSX-R600 range went from being 94bhp and 173kg, to 125bhp and 187kg. See? Not a lot of difference really.

Suzuki GSX-R600 Best Tyres

GSX-R600 riders tend to get their bikes out for sunny weekend blasts and the odd trackday, so here are some good recommendations:

Fast Road Riding

Bridgestone S23

Michelin Power 6

Metzeler M9RR

Trackday

Bridgestone RS11 (Sporty tyre you could ride to the track on with no issues and no need for warmers)

Continental Race Attack 2 Street (Decent lightweight road-legal track tyre)

Pirelli Supercorsa SC (The tyre used for most of the BSB support series, road legal but not a great choice for pure road riding)

You can also check out our guide to the best motorcycle trackday tyres for more in-depth options.

Suzuki GSX-R600 Tyre Pressures

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.

If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:

Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi

Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi

125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi

You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.

Are your tyre pressures letting you down?

We couldn’t find a tyre pressure gauge that was well-built, easy to get on-and-off the valve without pressure loss and could stand up to day-to-day abuse in our workshop. So we found a manufacturer to build one to our exacting standards.

We’re confident this is the best motorcycle pressure gauge out there. That’s why it comes with a 3-year, no-nonsense, money back guarantee.

Whether you want a digital tyre pressure gauge or a good old-fashioned analogue pressure gauge, we’ve got a gauge for you. Now you can quickly and easily check your pressures, to keep your bike handling well and to ensure you stay safe.
