Used as a control tyre for a Performance Bikes superbike group test at Anglesey, all the bikes were fitted with the Power Cup Evo and ridden by Michael Rutter. Here’s what PB had to say: ”
We used Michelin Power Cup Evo on all the bikes, in original sizes. In the case of the Aprilias, where you have an option of sizes, we stuck with the 200/55 ZR17 sizes as they’re fitted from the factory. They’re sold as a track day tyre able to run with or without warmers (we ran without, and they were fine after two laps), and give strong performance for a long time. They stood up fantastically on all the bikes – wearing evenly and resisting gouging or tearing. They helped reign in the ZX-10R’s loose back end, and combined well with the electronics on all the bikes (with the possible exception of the Ducati, which might just be too clever for it’s own good). We didn’t encounter any stability issues, either – they’re the ideal tyre to use on road bikes for lots of long, hard laps.”

Stability

Press Reviews
“We tested the new Michelin Cup Evos on a 2015 Aprilia RSV4 RF at Mugello and both front and rear rubber offered lots of grip and confidence. Agility and feel was impressive, but there was some movement from the front tyre turning-in, which is a trademark Michelin feel. But the Cup Evos let you push the Aprilia hard through the corners, but the faster they let you go, the more you need to stiffen the bike’s suspension to suit them.
By the end of our riding session the V4-powered superbike was weaving and pumping out of the slower corners and wobbling along Mugello’s straight (and the bike’s clutch gave up the ghost, with the lever swaying in the breeze by the time we’d entered the pits). Again, because of the Aprilia’s soft suspension set-up as standard the tyres showed a lot of wear after a few sessions. Michelin trackday tyres have always struggled to warm up in cold conditions, so they’re not the first choice for early or late-year UK trackdays, but the French firm say they’ve improved the Cup Evo’s warm-up time with new compounds and construction.
They were good to go after a couple of laps, but the temperature at Mugello was above 20°C so there was ambient heat already. We also got to test Michelin’s full race Power Slick Ultimate on a Yamaha R1, which is the tyre used in domestic superbike championships where there’s no single tyre rule. They grip like ‘you-know-what’ to a ‘you-know-what’ and you’d need a properly set up racing superbike to even begin to scratch the surface of what they’re capable of.” – Motorcycle News

“If outright grip is more important to you than durability then the road-legal Power Cup Evos are definitely worth a try. Within several laps my best time had already dropped by four seconds compared to the SuperSport Evos. There’s loads of grip, a ton of feel, and a profile that allows for both stability and decent change in direction. Compared to Michelin’s road-biased tyres, the Power Cups let you get on the throttle that second earlier, pull tighter lines and keep the throttle pinned when the rear starts to move a bit. It’s like riding on the SuperSport tyres with an extra 30% of performance in reserve.
Grip is just as impressive up front as it is on the rear tyre. Round the long double right-hander at the back of the circuit you get a fair amount of movement from the front end as it goes light over the crest under power. All the feedback that you need is on offer though and the rubber did a perfect job of keeping the bike composed as you transition from a shaking front end to heavy braking at turn 10.
Without data-loggers and days of back-to-back testing it’s impossible to say if the Michelins offer better lap times than other rubber on the market – what we do know is that the SuperSport Evo and Power Cup Evo both offer high levels of grip, stability and feel great on track even under the attack of 2015’s most powerful sports bikes.” Visordown
