Kawasaki Z1000 Tyre Size
The 1043cc Kawasaki Z1000 runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 190/50/17 rear tyre. You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.
These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Touring, Trackdays, Fast Road Riding, Budget tyres or High Mileage.
Kawasaki Z1000 History
Introduced in 2004 as a no-frills naked, the Z1000 quickly gained a cult following. It was a great bike out of the box, with a strong engine but you could modify it to suit your needs and that appealed to a lot of bikers at the time. These days it stays true to the original bike’s ethos as it doesn’t have traction control or even ABS. It now boasts a 4-cylinder 1043cc engine, mildly refined over the years. It produces around 140bhp and is a very popular fast-road bike that’s as capable at two-up touring as it is a trackday in the fast group.

Kawasaki Z1000 Stock Tyres
The last Kawasaki Z1000 came on Bridgestone S20 tyres. These are still available (just!) but there are newer and better tyres available.
The Ninja 1000S comes on Bridgestone S22 tyres, which are a newer model and a decent tyre.
Can you fit a 190/55 to a Z1000?
The Z1000 runs a 190/55-17 rear but we have fitted plenty of 190/55-17 tyres to these bikes. The 55-section tyre is far more common (only a few Japanese bikes tend to use the 190/50). Due to the fact the 55 is more common there are more tyres available, so your choice opens up. The 55-section rear tyre means the rear tyre is around 10mm taller than the 50-section tyre, which some claim helps the bike tip into corners better.
Kawasaki Z1000 Best Tyres
The Z1000 is bought by riders who like to do a bit of everything. From fast road riding to two-up touring, commuting and even the occasional trackday.
We have split our Z1000 tyre recommendations into two main categories.
Fast Road
Touring / Commuting
