Kawasaki Ninja 250, 300 and 400 Tyre Guide

If you ride a Ninja 250, 300 or 400 we’ve got some great suggestions for tyres to get the best from your bike, whatever conditions you ride in.

Baby Ninja Tyre Size

Every version of Kawasaki’s mini-Ninja has been fitted with a different combination of tyre sizes.

Ninja 250 (2008 – 2011): Front 110/70-17 and Rear 130/70-17

Ninja 300 (2012 – 2017): Front 110/70-17 and Rear 140/70-17

Ninja 400 (2018 – on): Front 110/70-17 and Rear 150/60-17

Check out our Kawasaki ZX-4RR tyre guide here for the best options for this new model.

You can use our motorcycle tyre size finder to input these sizes and see all the motorcycle tyres available.

Kawasaki Ninja History

A 250-four-stroke was never going to set the world on fire but if you’re upgrading from a 125, the likes of the Ninja 250, CBR250 and KTM 200 all made for an exciting A2-friendly progression into the world of ‘big’ bikes.

The Ninja has grown in engine capacity over the years and the latest Ninja 400 is more of a ‘small big bike’ than an oversized 125. A trellis frame, 41mm forks, twin piston caliper (with a single brake disc from a ZZR1400) and a nip and tuck of weight saving everywhere makes the Ninja 400 a brilliant first sportsbike for A2 riders.

Kawasaki Ninja 400 Stock Tyres

The Ninja 400 comes with Dunlop GPR300 tyres as standard. While these are better than the IRC tyres that came on the Ninja 300 and 250 they’re still not brilliant tyres.

The Best Tyres for the Ninja 250, 300 and 400

The great thing about having poor-quality tyres as standard is that when you change your tyres, pretty much anything you fit will make the bike feel better!

Our recommendations below are tyres that work really well on the small Ninja, bringing out the best in the bike’s handling and giving you more feel and confidence in all conditions.

Sporty Road

Tyres specifically designed to work well with lightweight bikes.

Metzeler Sportec Street

Michelin Pilot Street

Bridgestone S23

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT – Excellent dual-compound option

Commuter / All Weather

Anlas Tournee Sport – Good budget option

Kenda K711

Michelin Road 6 – Only available in 150-rear but brilliant tyres

Sticky Road / Trackday:

Bridgestone R11 – Pretty much the same tyre as the ZX-10RR comes on

Metzeler M9RR

Ninja 250, 300 and 400 Tyre Pressures

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.

We’d run 33psi in the front and 36psi in the rear.

If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:

Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi

Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi

125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi

You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.

Are your tyre pressures letting you down?

We couldn’t find a tyre pressure gauge that was well-built, easy to get on-and-off the valve without pressure loss and could stand up to day-to-day abuse in our workshop. So we found a manufacturer to build one to our exacting standards.

We’re confident this is the best motorcycle pressure gauge out there. That’s why it comes with a 3-year, no-nonsense, money back guarantee.

Whether you want a digital tyre pressure gauge or a good old-fashioned analogue pressure gauge, we’ve got a gauge for you. Now you can quickly and easily check your pressures, to keep your bike handling well and to ensure you stay safe.

Here at Two Tyres, we stock more than just tyres. Take a look at some of our essentials for any biker.
