On track you can but it’s not advisable.
If you run direction tyres the wrong way around on the road, your bike would fail its MOT and if you were involved in a crash the insurance might pull you up on it. It’s unlikely a police officer would spot a tyre that’s fitted the wrong way around but you should care more about it than they do as you’ll be running a tyre that’s not doing the job properly.
We know that people do turn their tyres around on track but it’s not recommended. The way the tyre is made, it may open up the tyre.
People do it to try and get the most amount of mileage from a pair of tyres, for example if you’re running on a track like Brands Hatch in the Indy configuration, you’ll go heavy on the right-hand side of your tyres but not the left. Turning the tyres around would mean you could use the tyres for a few more laps and get even wear from them but we would argue it’s just not worth the hassle or the risk.
