Aprilia RSV4 Tyre Guide

Check out our guide to see all the tyres you can fit to your Aprilia RSV4 and get our tips, recommendations and owner reviews of the latest fast road and trackday tyres.

Aprilia RSV4 Tyre Size

The Aprilia RSV4 runs two different tyre sizes. The original model which was introduced as the RSV4R in 2009 runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 190/55/17 rear tyre.  Whereas the later APRC versions went to a 200/55/17 rear tyre. Then the RSV4 RF version was introduced in 2015 and that too runs a 200/55/17 rear tyre. You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike.

Here at Two Tyres we have over 30 years’ experience in supplying and fitting motorcycle tyres. We supply tyres by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.

As an out and out superbike you’ll probably be using the RSV4 for fast road riding and trackdays, so it makes sense to fit a performance tyre that’ll offer plenty of edge grip and have a sharper profile to help the bike steer but warm up quickly and return good mileage.

Although the RSV4 produces upwards of 150bhp at the rear wheel but its firing order makes it relatively easy on tyres. It runs common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Trackdays, Fast Road Riding,  Racing or even for that touring trip to Europe.

Aprilia RSV4 History

Introduced in 2009, the original RSV4 Factory was a game changer for Aprilia. After years of chasing Ducati’s V-Twin domination, the Factory broke the twin-cylinder mould. The Factory version was followed up by the cheaper RSV4R, which had a few engine issues on launch. Later came the APRC editions, which had proper lap-time improving traction control and again, raised the level of the RSV4’s ability. The latest models are the RSV4 1000 RR and RSV4 RF, dripping with exotic parts.

Then to move it up a notch, Aprilia introduced the RSV4 1100 Factory, with a larger capacity engine and even more performance. Get that rev needle wound all the way past 13,000rpm and Aprilia reckons the bike’s punting out 214bhp! It’s no wonder Ducati ditched their V-Twin project and moved over to V4. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
