These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Touring, Trackdays, Fast Road Riding, Wet Weather or High Mileage.
Yamaha Tracer 900Â History
It’s Yamaha’s best do-it-all bike. Based around the same engine and chassis as the MT-09, the Tracer 900 comes in two versions, the Tracer 900 and the Tracer 900 GT (now called the Tracer 9 and Tracer 9GT). The GT comes with Yamaha hard luggage as standard, a full colour TFT dash, adjustable suspension, a quick shifter and cruise control. It screams: take me to Norway!
The original model was launched in 2018 and in 2020 it was revised, with a longer swingarm (by a couple of inches), a larger screen, narrower bars and a bit of a visual nip and tuck everywhere else. The new for 2010 Tracer 9 and GT have a spec list that looks straight off a superbike from a couple of years ago: up and down quickshifter, semi-active suspension, lightweight aluminium frame, 6-axis IMU and rider aids. Blimey, bring on the one make race series!

Yamaha Tracer 900Â Stock Tyres
The MT-09 Tracer and GT are supplied with the Dunlop Sportmax D222 tyres. If you want to get the most from your Tracer, ditch these tyres ASAP.
Yamaha Tracer 900Â Best Tyres
The Tracer 900 comes with very average tyres as standard. However you could fit tyres that are designed for sporty riding or tyres designed for higher mileage and better suited to commuting and all-weather grip.
Sticky tyre options
If you like to use your Tracer for fast road riding, we think these tyres are better options than the stock tyres supplied with the bike.
All-weather options
The stock tyres are OK for distance work but not the best for wet-weather cold weather grip. If you want improved performance, check out these options.
Yamaha Tracer 900Â Tyre Pressures
You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.
