Yamaha MT-125 Tyre Size
The MT-125 runs a 100/80/17 front tyre and a 130/70/17 rear tyre. The 2020 and onwards models run a larger rear tyre, a 140/70/17. These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a sticky road tyres or a decent commuting tyre.
Yamaha MT-125Â History
The MT125 was launched in 2014. It uses the same Minarelli engine as used in the 2008 to 2018 YZF-R125 models. Over the years it has had a coupleof minor updates but the first big update was to the 2020 model.

Yamaha MT-125Â Stock Tyres
The MT125 has been fitted with Michelin Pilot Street tyres as the OEM fitment since the bike was launched.
Yamaha MT-125Â Best Tyres
If you like the stock tyres, stick with them as they’re a good choice.
However Metzeler also makes a good option, the Sportec Street and if you want a cheaper quality tyre, take a look at the Anlas Tournee Sport which suits the MT really well.
If you’re commuting in all weathers and you want a tyre aimed at Winter conditions then have a look at the Kenda K701.
Yamaha MT-125Â Tyre Pressures
You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
