Triumph Trident 660 and 800 Tyre Size
The Triumph Trident 660 and 800 both run a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 180/55/17 rear tyre.

Triumph Trident History
The Triumph Trident name first appeared in the 1960s, but the modern incarnation was revived in 2021 with the launch of the Trident 660, designed to sit squarely in the middleweight naked class.
Powered by a 660 cc in-line triple derived from Triumph’s larger Tiger and Street Triple engines, the Trident 660 offered a smooth, usable powerband, friendly ergonomics and accessible performance. I
ts combination of real world torque, nimble handling and affordable pricing made it popular with new and experienced riders alike — a “right-sized” bike in an increasingly crowded mid-capacity market.
Building on that success, Triumph expanded the range with the Trident 800, first appearing in 2025. The Trident 800 adopts a larger 776 cc triple sourced from the Street Triple 800 family and shares much of its geometry and character with its smaller sibling. It delivers more mid-range and top-end grunt, a slight step up in chassis and suspension capability, and a presence that bridges the gap between the 660 class and higher-capacity roadsters.
Both bikes reflect Triumph’s philosophy of blending character, versatility and fun — the 660 offering accessibility and balance, and the 800 pushing that formula toward greater power and presence.

Differences Between the Trident 660 and Trident 800
Although the Trident 660 and Trident 800 share a lot in common, there are several clear distinctions that matter to riders — but the 10kg weight difference makes no difference to our suggested tyres.
Engine and Performance
Trident 660: Powered by a 660 cc triple, tuned for strong mid-range torque and friendly throttle response. Its output is well suited to everyday riding, commuter duties, weekend blasts and light touring.
Trident 800: Uses a 776 cc triple with more torque and horsepower, especially at higher revs. This translates to stronger acceleration on open roads and a livelier feel at higher speeds.
Character and Riding Feel
660: Slightly lighter feel, very confidence-inspiring for less experienced riders. It has a balance of gentle power delivery and playful handling.
800: Higher overall output makes the 800 feel more substantial at speed and more capable on fast road or B-road riding — without losing accessibility.
Chassis and Dynamics
Both bikes use similar frames and geometry, but the 800 weighs around 10kg more than the 660.

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
We think Triumph recommends F: 34psi and R: 42psi on the Trident.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
