Triumph Street Triple Tyre Guide

Tyre sizes, the best tyre options, tyre pressures, reviews and more for the mighty Triumph Street Triple series.

Triumph Street Triple Tyre Size

All Street Triples run the same tyre size. You’ll need a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 180/55/17 rear tyre.  You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.

These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Touring, Trackdays, Fast Road Riding, All Weather tyres or High Mileage.

Triumph Street Triple History

I’ve got time for a Street Triple.

When the bike was launched in 2007 it was a breath of fresh air. A middleweight bike that didn’t cut corners and offered plenty of performance and fun at slower speeds. Having ridden my fair share of bland 600cc inline-four cylinder bikes, when I first rode a Street Triple I was hooked.

Call me rose-tined but even though Triumph have made the Street Triple a more refined, more capable bike over the years, I don’t think they’ve made a better one than the original.

The first version, (2007 to 2011) had twin underseat exhausts (which helped the bike stay perfectly balanced on the back wheel) and a shorter first gear, which made it lively off the line and that get-and-and-go was a huge part of the Street Triple’s charm.

The later versions has an underslung exhaust and Triumph set the Street up with the same gearbox as the Daytona (with a taller first gear) so a fair bit of that first gear eagerness had gone and it never quite wheelied as well as the first version.

Anyway, Que Sera Sera. The 675cc version was replaced in 2017 with a Street Triple S which is an A2-friendly 660cc triple and then the 765R and 765RS which are the 765cc versions which use a motor that has a lot in common with Triumph’s Moto2 race bikes.

Street Triple. Not quite as keen as they used to be but still very capable real-world bikes.

Triumph Street Triple Tyre Pressures

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.

If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:

Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi

Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi

125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi

You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.
