Suzuki SV6-7GX Tyre Size
The SV-7GX runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 160/60/17 rear tyre. Â
Despite its adventure-inspired styling, the Suzuki SV-7GX is mechanically and dynamically much closer to the SV650 than the V-Strom 650. Tts styling and ergonomics give it a slightly more upright, crossover feel — without moving it into the adventure class like the V-Strom 650 (which has a 19″ front wheel).
With 17-inch wheels front and rear and a 160-section rear tyre, the GX is very much a road-focused bike rather than a true adventure motorcycle.
That said, you can get Adventure tyres for this bike but we’d argue that if you’re buying this bike and planning to go off-road, you’re buying the wrong bike.
Suzuki SV-7GX History
The Suzuki SV-7GX is a modern extension of Suzuki’s long-running SV family, which began life with the original SV650 in the late 1990s.
The SV650 quickly carved out a reputation as a versatile, easy-to-ride middleweight roadster, known for its engaging V-twin character, light handling and ease of ownership.
Over the years the SV platform became a favourite among riders of all experience levels, from beginners moving up to more seasoned riders looking for an everyday bike with character.
Rather than abandoning the SV concept as market trends shifted, Suzuki has continued to evolve it. The SV-7GX represents the latest step in that evolution — a bike that pairs the familiar middleweight twin’s accessible performance with contemporary styling cues and a slightly more upright, crossover-inspired look.
While it borrows heavily from the SV650’s DNA in terms of engine and chassis behaviour, the SV-7GX presents a more modern, road-focused package designed to appeal to riders who enjoy the practicality of a naked bike but also like the idea of a more versatile, all-day ride.
Despite adventure-styled bodywork and some ergonomic tweaks, the SV-7GX remains fundamentally a road bike at heart. Its tyre sizes, chassis proportions and riding character keep it closer to the SV650 than to Suzuki’s adventure-oriented models, making it an appealing choice for riders who want something with a bit of crossover personality without stepping up to a full adventure or dual-sport machine.
