Suzuki Katana Tyre Size
The Katana 1000 runs a 120/70-17 front tyre and a 190/55-17 rear.
In case you’re looking for the older Katana tyre sizes, then check out the below.
GSX1100S Katana (1981 – 1984) – 3.50-19, 130/70-17
GSX1000 SZ Katana (1981 – 1984) – 100/90-19, 130/90-17
GSX750 S Katana (1983 – 1986) – 100/90-16, 120/90-17
GS550M Katana (1981 – 1983) – 3.25-19, 4.00-18
Can you run a 190/55 rear?
The Katana 1000 comes with a 190/50 profile rear tyre as standard but if you want to open-up your choice of tyres, you can fit a 190/55 tyre. The difference is that the 55-section tyre is slightly taller (by about 10mm) and fitting this will increase the bike’s rear ride height.
Suzuki Katana History
A 140bhp naked is never going to be dull but the Katana 1000 failed to set the pulse racing in the same way the original did.
Let’s be honest, it was a tough act to follow.
The Katana 1000 is a rare bike and that’s because most people in the Suzuki showroom would struggle to get past the GSX-S1000 which is essentially a plainer-looking version of the Katana but with a larger fuel tank and a lower price tag.
Still, if money isn’t an issue and you want a stylish looking naked, with a reliable 140bhp, the Katana 1000 is a great bet.
