Kawasaki ZX-4RR Tyre Size
The ZX-4RR runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 160/60/17 rear tyre.
By clicking the links above you’ll be taken to a list of every tyre we sell in that size. However, there are loads – and some aren’t suitable for a sportsbike.Â
So, to save you the confusion, we’ve picked a few good options for Kawasaki’s ‘baby’ sportsbike.
Here at Two Tyres we specialise in motorcycle tyres and we’re a manufacturer-approved fitting centre. We can supply any motorcycle tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.
Most ZX-4RR owners use their bike for commuting and weekend thrills but they are also becoming more and more common on trackdays. Whereever you’re riding your ZX-4RR, it makes sense to fit a quality tyre that’ll warm up quickly, offer plenty of edge grip and return good mileage. A budget tyre won’t cut it on this model.
ZX-4RR History
If you’re as old as I am, you will remember lusting after Kawasaki’s ZXR400.
It was a baby ZXR750, and it looked every bit like its bigger sibling. A heady 14,000rpm red line, upside-down forks and a proper sportsbike riding position. It was a weapon.
And don’t forget those hoover tubes. I don’t know why but I would buy any new bike that came with hoover tubes!
Fast forward a couple of decades and Kawasaki tried to revive the grey bike movement with bikes like the Ninja 250, 300, 400 etc. Oldies like me looked down on these bikes and felt sorry for today’s yoof having to make do with a heavy steel frame, spongey suspension, and a soulless parallel twin, that was about as sporty as a pair of work boots.
But with the launch of the ZX-4RR I’m no longer sorry. I’m jealous. I want to be 20 again and screaming around the back lanes at 14,000rpm with not a care in the world.

Kawasaki ZX-4RR Stock Tyres
The 4RR model comes with Dunlop GPR300 tyres as standard. We don’t rate these tyres – see below for why.
Kawasaki ZX-4RR Best Tyres
The stock Dunlops are budget tyres and in our opinion hold the ZX-4RR back. You can fit so much better and transform your bike. If you’ve forked out for a new ZX-4RR you really owe it to yourself (and the bike!) to ditch the rock-hard GPR300s.
Fast Road Riding
If you’re a weekend thrill-seeker and you want a tyre that’s perfectly suited to the UK’s road and weather conditions, these are some great choices. We’ve chosen a mix of top-tier and older generation, so you can save a few quid if you don’t want the absolute latest tech.
Trackdays
If you’re riding to trackdays or just vanning the bike there, these tyres will give you all the edge grip you need to stay at the sharp-end whatever group you’re in.
Commuting / Touring
If you want the ultimate in fast warm-up, wet weather ability and mileage then check out these sports-touring tyres. If you’re riding in all weathers or planning that European trip, they’re worth considering.
Kawasaki ZX-4RR Tyre Pressures
You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.

Are your tyre pressures letting you down?
We couldn’t find a tyre pressure gauge that was well-built, easy to get on-and-off the valve without pressure loss and could stand up to day-to-day abuse in our workshop. So we found a manufacturer to build one to our exacting standards.
We’re confident this is the best motorcycle pressure gauge out there. That’s why it comes with a 3-year, no-nonsense, money back guarantee.
Whether you want a digital tyre pressure gauge or a good old-fashioned analogue pressure gauge, we’ve got a gauge for you. Now you can quickly and easily check your pressures, to keep your bike handling well and to ensure you stay safe.
