Kawasaki Vulcan S Tyre Size
The Vulcan S runs a 120/70/18 front tyre and a 160/60/17 rear tyre.
You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike or read on for our recommendations.
Here at Two Tyres we specialise in motorcycle tyres, so we like to think we have half an idea of what works and what doesn’t. We can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorbike servicing centre.
Kawasaki Vulcans tend to be either used as a daily commuter or a weekend toy. It’s a well-built, petrol-sipping, cheap-to-run, low-seated fun bike. It makes sense to fit a quality tyre that’ll warm up quickly, work well in all conditions and return good mileage.
The Vulcan S doesn’t run common tyre sizes but Kawasaki could have gone for even more obscure sizes (as is the case with some cruisers). Credit to Kawasaki because the sizes they have chosen, while not common, do mean that there are plenty of very good options, whether you want a tyre for commuting or a custom tyre that looks the business when the bike’s parked up.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Stock Tyres
The Vulcan has been fitted with Dunlop D220 tyres as standard. We don’t rate these tyres and as such, don’t stock them.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Best Tyres
Typically the Vulcan S is a bike for the biker who wants a bike for pleasure riding but we do have customers who use them to commute and some who use them as their European touring machine. Â
Commuting
Cruiser specific
There are two very good options for those riding in all weathers and doing big miles.
Metzeler 888 front and 888 rear – The rear is only available in a taller 160/70 or wider 170/60 – both will work fine.
Bridgestone EA1 Exedra Max – You’ll have to run the 10mm wider 170/60 rear
Sports Touring
If you want to fit properly grippy tyres for your daily commute, Euro-touring and Sunday B-road blasts, then check out these great options
Pirelli Angel GT – A great value-for-money option
Custom
When it comes to the custom look, there are two stand-out options. These tyres have chunky tread patterns which really set off the custom look.
