Honda CBR650F History
The CBR650F has its roots in Honda’s sportsbike range. When the CBR600RR came out in 2003 it replaced the CBR600F. While the CBR600F was Honda’s supersports contender, the CBR600RR made the F look a little old and soft around the edges.
However as a real-world bike, the F was always a good’un. Which is why, to this day, the 650 lives on. Launched in 2014 as the CBR650F, it was a Sports-Touring bike, not an out-and-out-sportsbike. The first model was then updated in 2017 and the second generation had sharper looks with a paintscheme similar to the Fireblade.
It’s a true do-it-all bike, from commuter to weekend scratcher, sports-tourer and it wouldn’t be too shabby on track either. Stick a set of panniers on it and it’s a good middleweight touring bike too. The CBR650F was replaced in 2019 and it’s now called the CBR650R. It earns it’s R badge to it having a more sports-focused design, which for 2021 includes Showa Big Piston Forks.
Bung a set of sticky tyres on it and it could handle fast-group trackday pace, or stick a set of panniers on it and it’s a great value for money rival to the Ducati Supersport S.

Honda CBR650F Stock Tyres
The stock tyres on the CBR650F are Dunlop Roadsmart 2s which are still in production but not a massively popular tyre.
Honda CBR650F Best Tyres
We’ve split the two suggestions into two common applications. Fast Road tyres for those who like to head out for a Sunday blast and perhaps the odd trackday and Higher Mileage Road tyres for Commuters and Tourers who want grip, mileage and wet weather performance.
Fast Road: Pirelli Rosso 4, Michelin Power 6
Road Commute: Metzeler Roadtec 02, Pirelli Angel GT2 and Continental Contiroad are a popular budget choice.
Honda CBR650F Tyre Pressures

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
