There is no need to reduce your motorcycle or scooter’s tyre pressures when it is cold.
Some people claim that reducing pressures helps the tyre warm up and perform better on a cold day. However, while a lower pressure will mean the carcass gets worked harder and the tyre’s temperature will likely increase, this is not advised.
Running the incorrect tyre pressure may reduce the contact patch the tyre has with the road. It will also close up the tyre’s tread blocks, meaning they are less able to channel water away form the tyre as designed.
Instead check your tyres to ensure they are running the correct pressures and take the time to warm your tyres up and they will work well.
