Avon Motorcycle Tyre Production 2025

The latest information we have on Avon’s motorcycle tyre line-up, production and availability.

Nov 2024

We’ve created this page to share what knowledge we have of certain lines of Avon motorcycle tyres and whether they will be back in production in 2025.

You can see our current Avon motorcycle tyre road range here.

Avon Tyres was acquired by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. in 1997 and subsequently taken over by Goodyear as part of its 2021 purchase of Cooper Tire. The factory, which was established in Melksham, Wiltshire in 1904, produced motorcycle and car tyres right up until its closure.

Aside from producing decent tyres, one of the clear selling points of Avon motorcycle tyres was that they were produced in the UK. A lot of our customers opted for Avon on this basis and we feel that Goodyear won’t be able to maintain the Avon=British connection.

However, it is also worth saying that motorcycle tyres were a small percentage of Avon’s total production. Avon’s motorcycle tyre range was quite comprehensive and it appears they have dropped the niche race-focused models that were well-liked but arguably not big sellers. Their sister company Dunlop is stronger in this area. Avon remain strong in classic and cruiser motorcycle tyres and has always sold large volumes of these in America. It’s likely this production may be transferred to the USA and we suspect there are a few more Avon motorcycle tyre models that will be dropped in 2025. A new company called Nova (an anagram of Avon) has started production of some of Avon’s motorsport (car) tyre range but they are unlikely to produce any motorcycle tyres.

Communication from Avon, Dunlop and their parent company Goodyear has been scant since the takeover and we’ve only found out about models of tyre that have been pulled or are due to be pulled when we have tried to place forward orders and been told there’s no stock and no production date.

To date, we have removed the following product listings from our website.

No longer produced

Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme

Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme Slick

Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme Rainracer

We don’t yet know if any of these will be returning but we will update this article as and when we have further news.
