Aprilia Tuareg 660 Tyre Guide

The best tyre options to suit pure road riders or off-road adventurers for Aprilia’s Tuareg 660.

Aprilia Tuareg 660 Tyre Size

The Aprilia Tuareg 660 runs a 90/90/21 front tyre and a 150/70/18 rear tyre.  You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike.

Here at Two Tyres we’re motorcycle tyre specialists and can supply any tyre to you by mail order. Or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.

One of the great things Aprilia have done with the new Tuareg is equip it with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear, which a very common combination on Enduro and Off-Road bikes – meaning you can fit some very good knobbly tyres if you want to go off-road.

The skinny 21″ front wheel isn’t the ideal size for road riders. However if you’re purely riding on the road, we’ve also suggested some great options to give you maximum feel, grip and confidence.

Aprilia Tuareg History

As with everything these days, retro is cool. Resurrecting a name and re-working an old classic is a sure fire way to sell bikes and Aprilia are in on the action.

The original Tuareg was launched in 1985 and ran until 1994. Aprilia turned their attention to Motorcycle Grand Prix racing and their new model line-up was equally heavily biased towards sportsbikes. Let’s face it; they produced and continue to produce some brilliant superbikes.

However, there’s no ignoring the Retro trend, nor the massive popularity of Adventure bikes. So, new for 2022 is the all-new Tuareg, using the same 659cc parallel-twin engine first seen in the RS660 and Tuono 660 models.

Aprilia Tuareg 660 Stock Tyres

The Tuareg comes with Pirelli’s Scorpion Rally STR tyres as standard.

Best Tyres for the Aprilia Tuareg 660

The OEM Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres are good quality dual-purpose tyres and a good choice if you’re doing a bit of everything on the bike.

However, if you’re a pure road rider or looking to spend most of your time off-road, there are some far better options for you.

Pure Road

If you’re not taking your Tuareg down anything more sinister than a gravel track, then these are great options for the pure road riders.

Metzeler Tourance Next 2

Continental Trail Attack 3

Pirelli Scorpion Trail 3

Dual Purpose

The original-fitment Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres are dual purpose tyres. They’re not the best on the road, nor amazing off-road but if you want a do-it-all tyre, they’re a good option. Here are a couple of other suggestions.

Dunlop Trailmax Mission

Continental TKC70 – Slightly more road-biased, central belt reduces vibration on the road

Off-Road

If you’re heading off-road often, then these tyres are capable of taking on any terrain.

Bridgestone AX41

Continental TKC80
