Kawasaki Servicing, MOTs and Repairs in London
Here at Two Tyres we offer Kawasaki motorcycle servicing, using genuine Kawasaki parts but without charging Kawasaki dealer prices.
We are a small and friendly team of experienced mechanics and our motorcycle workshop is in South East London. Our trained technicians use specialist tools and the latest diagnostic equipment, which means we can look after your motorcycle in exactly the same way your main dealer can.
We all ride and we know how important it is to ensure your bike is in tip-top condition.
We’re conveniently located in Greenwich and serve customers from all around the area, including Woolwich, Deptford, Canary Wharf, Blackheath, Charlton, Abbey Wood, Canning Town and Dartford. If you’re located in North Kent or South Essex we’re just a short ride away.
Kawasaki service schedules
Kawasaki services tend to be required every 4,000 miles. The first service is will be at 600 miles and this is just to replace the running in oil and give the bike a general check over. After that the services are generally known as a minor service and a major service. On most models, at 16,000 miles, Kawasaki advise that the valves need checking and we can do this for you.
However, no two bikes are the same and while a manufacturer’s schedule stipulates the service intervals by time or by mileage, 4,000 miles of commuting puts different stresses on a bike compared to 4,000 miles on track. We don’t just follow the service book; we also carry out a 27-point inspection of every bike we service to ensure it’s reliable.
We also use one thing that’s not listed in the service manual: common sense. If you’re about to head off on a 3,000 mile trip, there are items that aren’t listed in the service book that are worth checking. Similarly, if your bike has been laid up for a period of time, there are areas we’ll check outside of the servicing requirements.
It’s worth noting that Kawasaki don’t mention in their service schedule that you need to remove the brake calipers, clean the pistons and re-grease to keep them working effectively. For London riders, the constant stop-start of town riding means your brakes get worked hard. Not many bike shops will carry this out without you specifically asking for it but we think it’s a necessity to ensure you can rely on your brakes.
Unlike most main dealers, we don’t just work off a servicing sheet. We strive to save you money and keep your bike in fine fettle.
Whether you need a minor motorcycle service or a major service, a routine check-up or fixing a fault, we’ll ensure your bike is properly maintained, safe and reliable.
Genuine Kawasaki Parts
If your motorbike is still within its warranty period, we’ll keep your warranty valid by using Kawasaki genuine parts and stamping up your service book. We’re VAT registered which is one of the requirements of a servicing centre to keep your Kawasaki warranty valid. You don’t need to go to a main dealer to keep your warranty live but no main dealer is going to tell you that!
However we also use quality aftermarket parts by companies like K&N, SBS, Renthal, DID and NGK. So if you want to use OEM, we can supply those parts but if you’re outside of your warranty, we can fit a quality aftermarket brand instead. It’s your choice.
Our range of Kawasaki services
What’s the difference between a minor and major service
All manufacturers have different service schedules, some recommend you service your bike at set mileages (for example every 4,000 miles) regardless of the time since it was last serviced. Others recommend you service your bike at set time intervals (for example every 12 months), regardless of the mileage.
One thing that all manufacturers have in common is that they have a minor and major service, usually one follows the next.
A typical Kawasaki minor motorcycle service includes
– Change oil and filter
– Check and top up brake and clutch fluid
– Check brake pads
– Lubricate and adjust chain
– Check tyre pressures
A typical Kawasaki major motorcycle service includes
– Change oil and filter
– Replace air filter
– Check valve clearances if required by manufacturer
– Replace spark plugs if required by manufacturer
– Replace brake and clutch fluid
– Check brake pads
– Clean brake calipers and pistons
– Check headrace and wheel bearings
– Top up coolant
–Â Inspect suspension for signs of wear
– Lubricate and adjust chain
– Check tyre pressures
We work with both genuine and quality aftermarket parts. Regular servicing is the key to keeping your bike operating correctly and ensuring it is reliable.
