BMW S1000R Tyre Size
The S1000R has run the same tyre size since its launch in 2014 to the present day. It runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 190/55/17 rear tyre.

Here at Two Tyres we specialise in motorcycle tyres and we’re a manufacturer approved fitting centre. We can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.
Most S1000R owners use their bike for weekend thrills but they’re also a great commuter. So it makes sense to fit a quality tyre that’ll warm up quickly, offer plenty of edge grip and return good mileage.
The S1000R tyre sizes are common and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Commuting, Fast Road Riding or that touring trip to Europe.
BMW M1000R Tyre Options
Launched in 2023, the M1000R is a hotted-up version of the S1000R with an updated chasses and wings! The very latest (2024 model) has even more power, thanks to the fact it runs the latest S1000RR’s superbike engine. We have had a couple of these in the workshop – one owner had theirs mapped and dynoed at 209bhp at the rear wheel. They are absolute beasts.
The M1000R runs a slightly wider rear tyre compared to the S1000R; a 200-section up from a 190 on the stock bike. It runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 200/55/17 rear tyre.
It comes with the Bridgestone RS11 tyres as standard. This is a track-focused tyre and not our preference if you’re a pure road rider. So if you want a tyre that warms up faster and is better in typical UK summer conditions, check out the Fast Road Riding options below.
Our tyre suggestions for the BMW M1000R are the same as for the S1000R. Despite the M being more track focused, we think owners will use them in a very similar way to the S version.

BMW S1000R Stock Tyres
The S1000R has been fitted with a few different tyres as OEM. The early models were fitted with Pirelli Rosso II tyres but the bike has also been fitted with Metzeler Z8 Interact and Metzeler Sportec M7RR tyres. The latest 2021 model comes on the Bridgestone S22 J fitment
