This is a tricky one with no definitive answer.
99% of the time we don’t think you should remove the offending object. However the exception to this is that we have seen nails and screws go through at an angle close to the edge of the rim and it’ll be scoring the rim on the inside or worse, it’ll poke its way through the tyre’s sidewall.
If you pull it out, you’ll end up with a flat pretty quickly, so you’ll have to call the AA or use motorcycle tyre slime or similar.
Here are some scenarios that might help you make a decision:
If its retaining air and not close to the sidewall, keep it in there, limp to your local motorcycle tyre shop.
If it has gone flat overnight, pump it up again and limp to your local motorcycle tyre shop.
If it’s a screw and it’s partially in and the head hasn’t been ground off, try and wind it in as far as possible and limp to your local motorcycle tyre shop
If it’s a stanley blade or other flat item excercise extreme caution. It can’t be repaired and if it comes out the tyre will radpily deflate, so recovery is probably the best option
If it’s a thin nail or industrial staple, clip off any protruding part if you can and limp to your local motorcycle tyre shop
If it’s a lump of broken glass, leave it in there and limp to your local motorcycle tyre shop
If you do notice an object in your tyre, head to your local motorcycle tyre shop but ride extremely carefully, i.e. at bicycle speeds.
If you are in any doubt, call a recovery company or your local tyre shop to make arrangements to get the bike transported.
