Check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold, i.e before you ride.
Before you check your pressures, roll your bike so that the tyre valve is easily accessible. Ensure the bike is safe and secure on the sidestand. Even better, if you have a centre stand use it and you’ll be able to position your tyres to get easy access to the valves without having to move the bike back and forwards.
If you don’t know what pressures your tyres should be, look for the sticker on your bike’s swingarm, which will give you the bike manufacturer’s recommended pressures. This will also be in the owner’s manual. You can also set your pressures according to the tyre manufacturer’s recommendations – just go to their website to find them.
When you ride the bike, the pressure will build in the tyres as the tyres warm up. Tyres can inflate up to 10psi more when hot, but don’t reduce your cold pressures to try and compensate for this. Better to set them when cold and if you need to, check them when hot.
