Kawasaki ER6 Tyre Size
Both the Kawasaki Er6n and ER6f and the Ninja 650 run the same tyre sizes. They run a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 160/60/17 rear tyre. You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. However below we have listed our top picks.
As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.
These are common motorcycle tyre sizes and so you have plenty of choice, whether you want a tyre for Touring, Trackdays, Fast Road Riding, Budget tyres or High Mileage.
Kawasaki ER6 History
When it comes to the A2 licence, the ER6 in its F and N guises were Kawasaki’s two strongest cards.
Launched in 2005 the ER6-F (faired) and ER6-N (unfaired) were budget do-it-all bikes that featured a peppy parallel-twin 649cc engine, which made them brilliant first big bikes.
Kawasaki have launched facelifted versions of both models over the years but the basic formula is the same: A 70bhp bike that’s fun to ride, cheap to own and capable of doing a bit of almost anything.
The models ran from 2005 to 2008, then 2009 to 2011 and then since 2012 the ER-6 has remained the same.
In 2017 the Ninja 650 was launched. More than just a tweak it was a heavily revised model with sportier looks but it still maintains the same engine size and basic configuration.

Kawasaki ER6 Stock Tyres
Most ER6 models come supplied with Dunlop tyres as the OEM tyres. The later versions came fitted with Dunlop Roadsmart tyres. The Ninja 650 came on Dunlop D214 tyres.
Kawasaki ER6 and Ninja 650 Best Tyres
The stock tyre on the ER6 is a bit of a middle of the road tyre, it’s not bad but not particularly good at anything. The D214 that comes on the Ninja 650 is not a popular choice, with most owners ditching them as soon as they can.
We’ve got some good suggestions for ER6 and Ninja 650 owners and have split the tyres down into two main categories.

Fast Road / Premium
Continental ContiSport Attack 4
Touring / Commuting
Kawasaki ER6 Tyre Pressures
You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.
