Description
April 2022 update: There are no TD slick 200s in the country at the moment. They are due in late May. If you are looking for 200-section slicks, we have stocks of the Continental Conti Track Slick which is a great bit of kit, as used in the German Superbike Championship. 200s are running out everywhere. Grab them before they’re gone.
The Two Tyres 1-minute guide to the Metzeler Racetec TD Slick
What is it: Metzeler’s Racetec RR is their denomination for their supersports and track-ready tyres. The RR range comprises of road-legal fast road rubber right up to track-only slicks. Well loved by trackdayers and professional racers, they even hold an Isle of Man TT record. The TD Slick is essentially a treadless version of the Metzeler Racetec RR K3 and while not quite as sticky as a full on motorsports slick, it’s still plenty capable of lap-record bashing pace while having lots of feel and good wear rates – with no need to mess around with your bike’s setup.
What tyre it replaces: The TD Slick replaces the Racetec Comp K.
Who is it aimed at:Â This is aimed at the trackday enthusiast. It’s not a ‘full-on’ slick, the likes of which the professional riders use but think of it as a halfway house between a treaded road-legal track tyre and a full on motorsports slick. If you have a dedicated track bike and you’d like to explore the world of slicks, it’s a good shout. If you have a road bike and you want a seriously sticky tyre for trackdays that works well without having to fiddle with your stock suspension, this is it.
Typically seen on: Dedicated track bikes ridden by trackday junkies. These work well on bikes like the Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R1000, Yamaha’s R1 and exotic bikes like the Ducati 1098 and MV Agusta 800s.
TD Slick highlights: Reversible due to its symmetric construction, meaning you can get even more wear from a pair. Very good feel and feedback, especially at high angles of lean.
TD Slick sizes: 120/70 – 17″ front and 17″ rears in 180/55, 180/60, 190/55 and 200/55 sizes.
A more extreme option: The next step up is a full-on Metzeler Racetec RR slick.
A road-legal: The Metzeler Racetec RR K1+K2 are road legal and the RR K3 is a slightly harder compound. However if you are a road rider who does the occasional trackday, check out the M9RR
The competition: The Racetec TD Slick is an entry-level track slick and compares to the Avon Ultra Extreme Slick and the Dunlop D212 GP Slick.

Plug&Play racing fun
Factory sizes
Factory rear sizes allow a smoother transition from OE tire geometry to professional tires and helps the rider skip some of the setup variables a professional racer is required to manage with other aftermarket sizing.
Performance at the first corner
RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK features extremely quick warm-up and allow riders to approach a track without worrying about tire temperature into the first corner.
Single Ply, pure radial structure
Having a tire structure that best resembles the OE one assists the most in having to find the correct bike set-up to maximize your track day experience.
Reusable along several sessions
Great performance consistency
The uniform thermal and mechanical behavior of the RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK significantly reduces the thermal decay, allowing the RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK to retain its chemical properties through various laps and thermic cycles.
Abrasion and cold tearing resistance
The wide contact patch on full throttle corner exits, the quick warm-up and the effectiveness at wide range of temperature let the RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK tread compound to operate within the correct working range avoiding cold tearing or other uneven wear phenomena.
Reversible rear tyre
Symmetric rear structure
RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK rear sizes feature a symmetric structure and seamless construction layers avoiding junctions, which are sensitive to directional stress.
Exploit the last patch of rubber
RACETECâ„¢ TD SLICK rear is fully reversible, offering the rider the chance to fully use the tire. This is a big advantage when riding at tracks featuring a predominant leaning side, which exploits just one side of the tire.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US
I wasn't sure the size inner tubes I needed, so rang. They were extremely helpful, friendly and gave me the information I needed. Within 5 minutes I had got my answers, tubes ordered, paid and receipted - wow. I am usually cautious about using someone for first time, and not local (I live in Notts). I do recommend Two Tyres. Great job guys.
Called up and was able to get an appointment for the same day to replace both tyres on my BMW R1200 GSA. Not only was it great to get seen so quickly, compared to the 5 week wait I had been quoted by Motorrad, but Chris was able to offer some advice and guidance on which tyres best suited my needs. I cannot praise the service enough from Chris and the team and I will definitely be back for my next set of tyres!
Great service from these guys, I ordered on line and accidentally ordered two items the same, maybe clicked twice waiting for the page to change. They called me to check this wasn't a mistake (which it was) and immediately refunded me for the accidental purchase and sent out just one item. I know I'll be using them to get my tyres & tubes in future.
