Honda CB1000RÂ & CB1000 Hornet Tyre Size
This guide covers the Honda CB1000R, CB1000 Hornet and CB1000 Hornet SP, which all use 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear tyres.
The CB1000R and Hornet have run the same tyre size since the CB1000’s launch in 2014 to the present day. They run a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 180/55/17 rear tyre.

Honda CB1000R & CB1000 Hornet History
The original CB1000R was launched in 2008 as Honda’s flagship naked bike, combining Fireblade-derived performance with everyday comfort and Honda’s legendary reliability.
It remained largely unchanged for a decade before being completely redesigned in 2018 as the stylish Neo Sports Café CB1000R, transforming it from a no-nonsense all-rounder into a premium naked motorcycle.
In 2025, Honda introduced the all-new CB1000 Hornet, powered by a detuned version of the 2017 Fireblade engine. Available in standard and SP versions, the Hornet takes a different approach to the CB1000R, offering superbike performance at a more accessible price.
While the two bikes have different styling and chassis, they occupy a similar place in Honda’s range and share the same 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear tyre sizes.

Honda CB1000R and CB1000 Hornet Stock Tyres
The original CB1000R was with Bridgestone BT-015 tyres as standard but these have long since been out of production. The 2018 model came with Bridgestone S21 tyres which are still available but have been replaced by the S22.
The CB1000 Hornet comes with Bridgestone S22 tyres as standard.
Honda CB1000R Best Tyres
Typically, we see that owners use their big Hondas for pleasure riding but some customers use them to commute and plenty use them, to go touring.

Honda CB1000R Tyre Pressures
You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.
If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:
Scooter: F 30psi, R 30psi
Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi
Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi
125cc Bike: F 33psi, R 36psi
