What is it: The Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact is a proven supersport road tyre that first made its name several years ago and has now returned with a fresh production run using updated rubber compounds. It delivers sporty handling, strong dry grip and predictable feedback at a very attractive price point.
What tyre it replaces: The M5 originally sat at the sharp end of Metzeler’s supersport range before being succeeded by newer models like the M7RR and M9RR.
Who is it aimed at: The Sportec M5 is aimed at riders who want genuine sports performance without paying top-tier hypersport prices. It’s ideal for fast road riders, weekend scratchers and owners of older superbikes or middleweight sports machines looking for strong grip and sharp steering on a budget.
Typically seen on: You’ll commonly see the M5 fitted to 600cc and 1000cc sports bikes, naked roadsters and older-generation superbikes used primarily for road riding.
Sportec M5 highlights: Sporty profile for agile turn-in and stable cornering. Updated compound for dependable dry grip. Predictable handling and strong road feedback. Excellent value for money in the supersport category
How well does it perform? We went on the tyre’s launch all the way back in 2010 and here’s what we had to say then: The M5 Interact handles like a sports tyre, its profile isn’t as sharp as a full on track-focused tyre but for me, that’s a plus point. It doesn’t fall on its side like a tyre with a steep profile but it’s not slow to get over, either.
The competition: The M5 competes with other value-focused sports tyres such as the Bridgestone S21, Michelin Power 2CT and Pirelli Rosso 3.
Date codes: The M5 is an older model but they’re back in production using the latest rubber compound. The date codes on our latest batch are as follows

Unlike some other retailers, all our tyres are located in the UK. If it shows as available on our website, then it's in stock. We dispatch 95% of orders within 24 hours and because they're shipped from the UK, you won't have delays or import charges.
