BMW R1300RT Tyre Guide

Our guide to the best tyres for BMW’s all-new R1300RT

BMW R1300RT Tyre Size

The BMW R1300RT runs a 120/70/17 front tyre and a 190/55/17 rear tyre.  You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. However be aware that not every tyre that can fit this bike is a recommended fitment.

As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.

BMW R1300RT History

Released in 2025, the R1300RT takes a step up from the previous 1254cc version and is now exactly 1300cc. It’s sportier than its predecessors but it still plugs a gap in BMW’s range for those who want a fully-faired mile-muncher with a boxer engine. That’s probably the only thing the R1300RT has in common with the R100RT which first entered the BMW range in 1978.

BMW R1300RT Stock Tyres

With the move to 1300cc comes another big change, as the new RT now runs a 190/55-17 rear tyre. Up from the 180/55-17 that’s been the mainstay of the 1200 range.

The R1300RT comes with Michelin Road 6 GT tyres as the OEM tyre.

These are very good tyres and it’s the first time the GT has been used on the RT, which weighs only a couple more kilograms than the outgoing R1250RT.

BMW R1300RT Best Tyres

Despite the new RT coming fitted with top quality Michelin Road 6 GT tyres, there are other good options you can consider.

If you want to get more mileages from your tyres, check out Bridgestone’s T33

If you want to keep the all-weather performance but want something slightly sportier to really get the best from the R1300’s chassis, check out the Pirelli Angel GT2 or Metzeler Roadtec 02.

BMW R1300RT Tyre Pressures

You can find your motorcycle manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures in your owner’s handbook. You’ll also find a tyre pressure chart sticker on the swingarm.

If you have no idea what pressures to run, this is our general rule:

Normal Motorcycle: F 36psi, R 42psi

Big Tourer: F 42psi, R 42psi

You should always check your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold. Check out our range of motorcycle tyre pressure gauges here.

Are your tyre pressures letting you down?

We couldn’t find a tyre pressure gauge that was well-built, easy to get on-and-off the valve without pressure loss and could stand up to day-to-day abuse in our workshop. So we found a manufacturer to build one to our exacting standards.

We’re confident this is the best motorcycle pressure gauge out there. That’s why it comes with a 3-year, no-nonsense, money back guarantee.

Whether you want a digital tyre pressure gauge or a good old-fashioned analogue pressure gauge, we’ve got a gauge for you. Now you can quickly and easily check your pressures, to keep your bike handling well and to ensure you stay safe.
