Honda NC750X Tyre Size
The NX750X runs 120/70/17 front tyre and a 160/60/17 rear tyre.
These sizes are traditionally used on road bikes rather than off-roaders. The later model CB500X actually came with a 110/80-19 front and 150-70-17 rear, which is much more suited to off-road riding. That’s the main reason we don’t think the NC can really call itself an Adventure bike. Surely an Adventure bike has to have some roots in the off-road world?
You can click those links to see all the different tyres available in the sizes for this bike. However below we have recommended what we consider to be the best options for the NC.
As motorcycle tyre specialists, accredited by the major manufacturers, we can supply any tyre to you by mail order or you can have them fitted in our London motorcycle workshop.
Honda NC750X History
Honda’s NC750X can trace its roots back to 2012 and the Honda Jazz (a car, no less). The NC700S was quite revolutionary when it was launched. It essentially used half the Honda Jazz engine and drank petrol like a budgie drinks water (i.e. not a lot).Â
It appealed to the frugally minded bikers and to some it was what a motorcycle would look like if you ironed out all the fun bits. However, as time has ticked on, the NC has found a cult following in all its guises; from the slightly mundane NC700S to the sharp-looking NC750X.
The NC750X sits in Honda’s ‘Adventure’ category. While we don’t agree with Honda that this is an Adventure bike, we bow to their better knowledge.
Honda NC750X Stock Tyres
The NC750X comes with 17″ wheels. As far as we’re concerned, that already puts this bike on the back foot when it comes to riding off-road.
Ahh, but Adventure doesn’t mean off-road, I can hear you all cry. Adventure means, er, going off, umm, on the road and having an adventure?
In my day that was just called riding.
Even the CB500X comes with a 19″ front wheel, which makes it better suited to the muddy stuff.
The stock NC750X tyres are either Dunlop Trailmax D609 or the Metzeler Tourance. Both fairly average tyres, we reckon.
Honda NC750X Best Tyres
The stock Dunlops are pretty poor. The Metzelers slightly better but still not amazing confidence inspiring boots.
If you ride on the road you have loads of choices.
Road riding:
Continental Trail Attack 3 – Yes they have trail in the name but these are very much a road tyre, with a slightly ‘adventure’ tread pattern.
Light off-road:
Proper off-road:
If roostering your mates on the weekend is your thing.
Bridgestone AX41 – You need to fit a slightly narrower 150/70-17 rear
Continental TKC80 – As above
Fast road riding / Trackdays
Come on, someone out there must have taken their NC750X on track!
