Harley Davidson Sportster Tyre Size
The Harley Sportster runs a 100/90/19 front tyre and a 150/80/16 rear tyre. You can click those links to see all the different tyre options for this bike. 2021 Harley Davidson Sportster S tyre sizes
The new Harley Sportster S runs different tyre sizes to the traditional Sportster models. The front tyre is a 160/70-17 and the rear is a 180/70-16.
While plenty of manufacturers produce a rear in that size, the front is somewhat unique. The only tyres currently available in a pair in these sizes are the Dunlop GT503.
However you can run the Metzeler 888 in the 10mm narrower 150/80-17 front tyre size. The 888 rear is available in the stock size.

Harley Sportster 883 and 1200 History

The Sportster is seen by many as an entry-level Harley Davidson but it’s still not a cheap bike. Sporties have been around in various guises since 1957 but the modern versions that are on sale today can trace their lineage back to 1986. The Sportster range is popular because they offer the style and noise of a Harley but without the weight and physical size.
There have been countless (well, we lost count at 30) different Sportsters over the decades but today they’re available with either an 883cc or a 1200cc engine.
The modern Sportsters use an air-cooled two-valve engine , a 5-speed gearbox, belt drive and a rubber mounted engine. So they retain the Harley cool but they’re a bit more usable now.
The current range has over 8 different models based around this engine and chassis.
The range includes the Iron 883 and Iron 1200, the Superlow, Fourty-Eight, Forty-Eight Special, Roadster, 1200 Custom and Superlow 1200T.
The 883 has always been seen as the entry-level Harley but now the new Street 750 and Street Rod are Harley’s smallest capacity motorcycles.
