Honda SH300 History
I am a massive fan of Honda’s SH300. In fact I’d say it’s the best motorcycle for town riding. A bold claim, I admit.
So why am I gushing over a little scooter. Well, it has maxi-scooter performance in a chassis that’s the size of a 125. However it also has 16-inch wheels, so unlike most scooters, it holds the road well, doesn’t clatter around in potholes, has handling that means bigger bikes have to work to keep up in town, plus it has a turning circle that allows you to get through traffic by crabbing sideways and squirting into tiny gaps. Another bonus is that they don’t look all that hot and so in town they’re not a theft magnet, like the Yamaha T-Max or any Vespa.
I’ve owned a few and I might be biased but they’re a quality bit of kit. In fact when the SH range was launched, the SH150 was the biggest selling bike in Italy in 2007, followed by the SH300 in the second spot and the SH125 in the third spot.
There are three main versions of the SH300, the first was launched in 2007 to 2010, then 2010 to 2015 and then 2015 to present.
Proper bits of kit that are under the radar of most commuters in the UK but if you have a full bike licence and you want to get to work quickly and effortlessly, the SH is right up there.
