Aprilia RSV1000 History
The RSV Mille was Aprilia’s leap into the Superbike class. They raced it in World Superbikes and had some decent results and it was ridden by Japanese legend Noriyuki Haga.
The RSV1000 was launched in 1998 and was an instant hit. The rounded fairing model was replaced in 2004 with the sharper-looking RSV-R. The R used to be the top-spec version but with the new RSV1000 the word Mille was dropped and RSV1000R was the base model with the RSV1000 Factory as the top-spec model.
It’ still a great superbike and prices these days make the RSV a good value for money Superbike. Producing around 130bhp, they’re an ideal road bike but are also popular with sports-tourer and trackday fanatics.
1998: The Aprilia RSV1000 Mille was launched.
2001: The Mille undergoes a big update including more power and new bodywork.
2003: The RSV1000 gets another big update where the suspension, brakes and gearbox were uprated.
2004: All new sharper model launched.
