1. Hide it.
Ideally, your bike will be garaged but not everyone has access to one. If you park your bike out on the street, use a motorcycle cover. Most potential thieves will move on to an easier target. If they do want to see what’s underneath, they will have to take risks to see what’s under the cover. Even if you’re parking your bike during the day, cover it if you can. Out of sight, out of mind.
2. Secure it.
While it’s natural to want to focus on using the best motorcycle security, the fact is that any security is better than none. An alarmed disc lock makes it hard for thieves to operate and it’ll keep the opportunists at bay. If you use a chain, then secure your motorbike to something solid. That way thieves won’t be able to lift your bike up and sling it in a van.
It’s not always possible to carry a big chain or buy a really expensive disc lock, so don’t worry if you can’t afford ‘the best’ lock. Anything is better than nothing.
3. Track it.
A tracker provides peace of mind and is a brilliant tool should the worst happen. With a motorcycle GPS tracker, you can see where your bike is at all times and get movement alerts that allow you to react to tampering. If your bike does get stolen, you’ll have a far higher chance of recovering it.
