Valve replacement and wheel balancing are both important aspects of correct motorcycle tyre fitting.
Valves
We replace rubber valves with rubber valves and balance your wheels. Rubber valves can degrade over time due to age, heat, and exposure to the elements, and fitting a new tyre onto an old rubber valve can increase the risk of air leaks or valve failure.
If your bike has metal valves, these will only be replaced if you ask for this. We charge £10 per 90-degree valve.
Replacing valves at the time of tyre fitting is a sensible preventative measure and helps ensure long-term reliability, particularly at higher speeds.
Wheel balancing
Wheel balancing is also an important part of tyre fitting. Correct balancing helps reduce vibration, improves ride comfort, and promotes even tyre wear. In most cases, wheels are balanced as part of the fitting process, although requirements can vary depending on wheel type, tyre construction, and motorcycle setup.
If you have experienced vibration, uneven wear, or handling issues previously, or if you have specific preferences regarding valves or balancing, please mention this when checking in so our technicians can take it into account before fitting begins, as this may signify another issue, such as a dented or damaged rim.
Inner tubes
If your bike runs inner tubes, we advise you to have these replaced with the tyres. There is an additional cost for each inner tube. We will show you your tubes if you need us to, so that you can see their condition. Replacing a worn inner tube with a fresh one minimises the chances of you getting an inner tube-related puncture and thus saves you an avoidable inconvenience and cost. However if you want ot stick with your original inner tubes, just let us know.
