Michelin Anakee Road
Michelin's Adventure tyre for pure road riders. We tested this tyre on a variety of Adventure bikes. We rate its fast warm-up and ability to make even big Adventure bikes feel light and nimble. It's pretty much a Road 6 but with a tread pattern better-suited to Adventure bikes.

Description
The Two Tyres 1-minute guide to the Michelin Anakee Road
What is it: New for 2024, the Anakee Road fills a gap in Michelin’s Adventure-bike offering; sitting between the Road 6 and Anakee Adventure, the Anakee Road is aimed at Adventure-bike riders who rarely, or never stray far from the black stuff. Based on a Road 6 carcass and with a tread pattern optimised for Adventure bikes, the Anakee Road is a great option for those looking for precise handling, comfort and all-weather ability. We tested the Anakee Roads on a variety of Adventure bikes in dry conditions in Spain and they are excellent tyres, offering a fast warm-up, lots of feel and very nimble handling. For our money, they’re a better pure road tyre than the Road 6 for Adventure bikers.
What tyre it replaces: It doesn’t really replace anything in Michelin’s current range. However if you left a Road 6 front and an Anakee Adventure rear in a cage for a while, they might end up producing the Anakee Road!
Who is it aimed at: If you’re an Adventure bike rider who wants the performance of a Road 6 but with a tread pattern that matches your Adventure bike, the Anakee Road is well worth considering. Michelin positions this as a 90% road, 10% off-road tyre, but we don’t love the whole percentage thing here at Two Tyres. If your off-road excursions are limited to dry firm terrain, these are more than capable. If 10% of your miles are on boggy Welsh trails, look elsewhere..
Typically seen on: We have already fitted these to popular Adventure bikes, including the BMW 1250GS and Triumph Tiger 900. They’re available in sizes to fit approximately 80% of Adventure bikes produced in the last twenty years.
Anakee Road highlights: Mud & Snow rated. Dual-compound construction on both front and rear tyres, with softer shoulders for more edge grip and a harder central section for improved mileage returns. This tyre has a 17% sea/land ratio, compared to 14% for the Road 6. These have the classic Michelin hallmarks of a fast warm-up and incredible feel. When we tested this tyre, we asked Michelin’s development team if this was essentially a Road 6 carcass but with a tread pattern for Adventure bikes they nodded while saying they couldn’t officially reveal that!
Anakee Adventure tyre sizes: A wide range of fitments, including 19 and 21″ fronts and 17 and 18″ rears.
A more extreme option: If you’re going to be tackling more than the occasional dry trail, check out the Michelin Anakee Adventure
A more road-focused option:Â If you commute on an Adventure bike in all weathers or you ride an Adventure bike with wheel sizes that the Anakee Roads don’t cater for, check out the Michelin Road 6.
The competition: We think the Anakee Road is a direct rival for the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 3, Continental Trail Attack 3 and Dunlop Trailmax Meridian.
Michelin says:
The Michelin Anakee Road:
- Aimed at motorcyclists who prefer the road to off-road, riding their bike for long road trips as well as for everyday travel.
- Proven 2CT construction with a softer shoulder compound and more hard wearing central band.
- 90/10 road vs off-road use
- M + S RATED, a legal requirement in some countries for use during winter months.
- All sizes are tubeless type but you can use a tube if necessary.
M+S stands for Mud and Snow. Not to be confused with M&S who aren’t a legal requirement in any country but do pedal a good line of posh cheeses and pyjama sets.
