What is it: A no-nonsense tyre that offers great value for money. The ST sets the standard for Sports Touring tyres. It’s a quality benchmark for all-weather performance, handling and grip. A silica-rich tyre that’s designed to work well in all conditions. It has only recently been surpassed by the Angel GT and Angel GT2.
What tyre it replaces: The Angel ST replaces the Pirelli Strada.
Who is it aimed at: If you’re the sort of rider who rides all year round but could also jump on a ferry at the drop of a hat and head off to Europe these are a great option. Popular with commuters and dispatch riders, due to the fact they warm up quickly are great in the wet and last well. They use Pirelli’s racing know-how to create a tyre that handles brilliantly, yet is easy on the wallet.
Typically seen on: A great fit for commuters and sport-tourers. Anything from a Honda VFR800 to a BMW F800GT. A Moto Guzzi V7, Honda CB500F or a Ducati SuperSport.
Angel ST highlights: High silica content enables the tyre to warm up rapidly and provide excellent grip in all conditions.
Angel ST tyre sizes: Only available in 17″ rims but with sizes to fit pretty much any road bike from the past two decades.
A budget-conscious option:Â A cheaper road tyre in the Pirelli range is the Pirelli Rosso 2.
The competition: The Angel ST faces strong competition from the likes of the Metzeler Z6, the Bridgestone BT-023, the Dunlop Roadsmart 2 and Avon Storm 3D XM.
