Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 SP
This one is Pirelli's flagship sports tyre. If you want to ride your R1M to Oulton Park and then do a trackday on it the V3 SP would be one of the best choices out there. No need for tyre warmers (but you could if you wanted to) just drop the pressures and go. Ducati choose this one for it's incredible Panigale V4. The stickiest road tyre at the moment (Nov 20') that's made in a huge 200/60 ZR17.

Description
The Two Tyres 1-minute guide to the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP
What is it: Now in its third generation, the Supercorsa SP V3 is Pirelli’s highest performing ‘fast road’ tyre. They have been developed to perform on the road but also handle trackday pace.
The new V3 features a new tread design, profile and carcass, which are much closer to what Pirelli use in their full-on race tyres. The rear tyre is dual compound with an edge compound that’s closer to that found on the Supercorsa SC. The front tyre is a single compound, with the carcass and tread thickness developed for improved feel. You can expect around 2,000 to 3,000 miles from a pair of Supercorsa SP tyres.
What tyre it replaces: This is the V3 version which replaces the V2.
Who is it aimed at: If you ride a sportsbike and your riding is about smiles rather than miles, the SP is a great option. It’s a super sticky road tyre and more than capable of leading the fast group. If you ride to your trackdays this is the one to have.
Typically seen on: If your bike was designed to lap race tracks then it’s a good fit for the Supercorsa SP. The Daytona 675R came with them as standard, so did the FireBlade SP. If you ride a sportsbike like a Kawasaki ZX-6R to a Ducati Panigale and especially if you ride on track, the SP is a great choice.
Supercorsa SP V3 highlights: Tyre profiles now closely match the WSBK tyres for optimum edge grip.
V3 SP sizes: Only available in 17″ rims but with sizes that fit pretty much every bike that has Sports or Super in its designation.
Supercorsa SP vs SC: The SC is the track-focused Supercorsa whereas the SP is the road-focused tyre. The SC tyres are available in multiple compounds to help riders choose the best tyre for the track temperature, surface and their preferred feel. The SP is an OEM tyre on a lot of track-focused production bikes, such as the Honda CBR1000RRR-SP Fireblade, Ducati V4 Panigale and Triumph Daytona 765 and Street Triple RS 765 and Aprilia RSV4.
A more road-focused option: The Supercorsa SP is a track-spec tyre. If you are a fast road rider who occasionally ventures on track, the Rosso 4 is a better bet.
The competition: There are a lot of track-spec road tyres on the market. From the Metzeler Racetec RR K3 to the Dunlop SportSmart TT and the Bridgestone RS11.
Pirelli says:
The Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 is a Racing Street tyre offering riders:
- Refined tread pattern increases stability and leads to more uniform wear pattern.
- New WSBK derived rear tyre profile offers maximum contact patch size at lean.
- Increases in cornering grip and traction when driving out of bends.
- This is what the Ducati Panigale V4 comes as standard with.
- ‘E’ fitment 200/55 ZR17 is for the Honda CBR1000RR-R 2020 .
What’s the difference between the Pirelli Supercorsa V2 SP and V3 SP?
The V3 SP was the first ‘road’ tyre made in a 200/60 17 that copied the Pirelli SuperBike Slick profile and size. The front V3 SP is 2mm wider that the front V2 SP. V3 SP is a single compound front and dual compound rear. The rear V3 SP has the same compound ‘SC2’ on it’s shoulders.
Press Review
“The tires were quick to heat up (maybe half a lap?), then after many laps on many different bikes shod with these Supercorsa SPs (all tire sizes and air pressures determined by the bike manufacturers), I thought the tires worked excellent and were a noticeable improvement over the SP V2s.
Two times per lap you’re scraping your knee in sixth gear, 1000cc, flat out, at full lean…
I could get on the brakes late then back on the gas early and feel exactly what both ends of the bikes were doing. The high-speed stability was solid, and the edge grip sticky. But my biggest surprise with the SPs was just how well they trail-braked from the circuit’s fast straights and into its very slow chicanes. Just as stable and confidence inspiring as any OEM tires could ever hope for.
Between the tire’s new multi-radius profile and larger contact patch, its new compounds, and the new 4% full/void ratio and eight-step, angular “flash” geometry water-grooves, the performance of these road-going tires – when mounted to our state-of-the-art sport bikes – seems to me to be on par with most of the best full racing DOTs from just a few years ago, but I reckon our ever-improving TC and lean-sensitive ABS systems could be held responsible for a good percentage of this improved feedback. Either way, Pirelli’s latest road-going SP’s check all of the boxes: good grip, feel, and stability for our modern sport bikes aimed at the streets and canyons.”
— Mark Miller, riding Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires at Autodromo di Pergusa.
