Michelin Pilot Power 2CT
A older tyre but Michelin still produce the 2CT because it's so popular. It's a great choice for road riders and one of the first dual compound tyres, with a firmer central compound and a softer shoulder for improved edge grip and tyre life. If you use your bike for commuting and weekend blasts, these are a great choice.

Press Reviews
“Yeah, I like these! The best so far for rear traction and really stable under hard acceleration. Like the Metzelers, they’re not so great at cutting through standing water. But they never feel as though they’re going to swap ends. Really good on the brakes too, which makes the back more prone to coming round – it’s not that there’s less grip, there’s just more weight transfer to the front lifting the rear. It’s quite a nice feeling actually, really progressive when it does step out. Took a while to warm up, but great when they did.” – Visordown
““If you’re after longevity and something fresh, there are uber deals to be had on ageing models, like a firm Fast Bikes’ favourite; Michelin’s 2CT. While it obviously hasn’t got the grip of outright race-derived rubber, the 2CT will last for days and is also hugely versatile. We’ve seen many bikes donning the French hoops at trackdays recently. The feedback available at either end is still, to this day, right up there with the best of tyres. For fast riders, you can expect to sacrifice two seconds a lap, but newbs won’t suffer too much. The 2CT also heats up super-fast, so if you’re riding a trackday, sans tyre warmers, there’s no need to waste half a session getting tyres up to temperature.” – Fast Bikes Magazine
Pilot Power 2CT versus the rivals
michelin pilot power 2ct vs road 5
Dropping the word Pilot from the name but the Road 5 is the evolution of Michelin’s most popular road tyre. Its distinctive Sipes technology helps make this a brilliant tyre in the wet while its fast warm up and edge grip are what makes it a firm favourite. Available in GT spec for heavy tourers and Trail for Adventure bike wheel sizes.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs power rs
Now discontinued, the Power RS was Michelin’s super sticky tyres for fast road riding. It has been replaced by the new Power 5.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs dunlop qualifier 2
The Dunlop Qualifier 2 replaced the original D209 (Qualifier). The Qualifier 2 is a multi compound fast road sports tyre.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs pirelli diablo rosso 3
Yep, The Rosso 3 replaced the Rosso 2, it improved over the previous model with a sexier tread pattern which created a larger footprint at mid lean and a new bi compound. It was released in 2017 as Pirelli’s do it all sports tyre.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs bridgestone s21
Bridgestone’s S21 was created using the all the good points of the S20 evo of which it repolaced. This tyre has improved grip and feel whilst also having an incredible 36% improvemnt in mileage over the already good S20 evo.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs pilot road 2
A game changer! The Pilot Road 2 replaced the Road. When this was released back in 2007 it’s 2CT dual compound blew the competion away with it’s unbeleivable wet weather performance and also it’s outstanding ability on dry tarmac. The fact it’s still available after so long proves what a quality tyre this one is.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs michelin pilot road 3
The Pilot Road 3 was the replacement for the Road 2, improving all aspects ever so slightly over the Road 2. The stand out feature is its front tyre pattern which incorporated the then new XST sipe which chucks out water like no other road tyre before it. Was replaced by the Road 4 which never quite got the following and praise this one did.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs pilot road 4
Guess what tyre the Pilot Road 4 replaced? Easy eh. The Road 4 was claimed to have 20% more mileage than the Road 3, this was certainly true for the front tyre but it didn’t quite have the performance in the wet as the Road 3 front. Also available in GT spec fitments for the over weight bikes out there.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs bridgestone bt016 pro
The BT016 is the successor to the popular BT014. A very capable sports tyre with 3 layer compound technology, a great range of sizes still available including 110/80 ZR18 & 160/60 ZR18 which are very hard to come by in a sports tyre fitment.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs power 5
A direct replacement for the Power RS, the Power 5 is designed for fast road riding. It has a very low (11%) void ratio meaning there’s maximum amount of rubber in contact with the road but with additional silica you won’t get caught out if it rains. If you’re running a sportsbike, these are well worth a look.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs pirelli angel gt
The GT is Pirelli’s evolution of the popular ST. A touring tyre with a sporty edge, thanks to its bi-compound design, with a soft shoulder for better edge grip and a harder central compound for increased mileage. ‘A’ fitment is a 2-ply stiffer carcass for heavier bikes.
michelin pilot power 2ct vs continental sport attack
Continental’s Sport Attack is their entry level radial sport tyre. Still available in the common sizes and also a 16″ front fitment for early Hornets and Fireblades.
